Hamilton’s Crisis Rapid Response Team

This video by City News Toronto follows Hamilton Ontario’s Charlie 91 – a pilot project which combines a mental health professional with a police officer. They differ from Toronto Police’s Mobile Crisis Intervention Team (MCIT) in that they are first responders.

It’s an interesting look at police and how they engage with mental health. Important to compare differences and similarities with Toronto Police.

I rather see partnerships between mental health professionals and paramedics.  If a nurse can be trained in violent situations, then police should be able to train in mental health.
